Another successful moderate drinking strategy you may want to adopt is to switch to beverages with lower alcohol concentrations, such as light beer or light wine. Here are some examples of how much less you would be drinking:

• Light beer (3 to 4 per cent alcohol) has 20 percent less alcohol than regular beer.

• Light wine (7 per cent) has 40 percent less alcohol than regular 12 per cent wine.

• A mixed drink made with a one-ounce instead of a one-and-a-half-ounce shot of liquor has 33 per cent less alcohol than a standard drink.
